Crumlin High School to be integrated
Crumlin High School is to become the first controlled integrated post-primary school in the North Eastern Education and Library Board area.
A proposal for the development for the acquisition of integrated status for Crumlin High School to be allowed, was published by the NEELB on March 22 2006.
The publication initiated a period of two-months, during which representations including objections could be made to the Department.
That period expired on May 23.
Announcing the decision to integrate the High School, Education Minister, Maria Eagle said: “Crumlin High School has a tradition of receiving pupils from across the community and the acquisition of integrated status should help the school develop its cross‑community dimension.
“Education has a vital role in helping to create the conditions necessary for long-term peace and stability in Northern Ireland. The Strategic Review of Education, announced earlier this year, will be examining the issues of improved collaboration and sharing of facilities which promote greater integrating of education.”
Crumlin High School is a controlled co-educational post-primary school attracting pupils from controlled and maintained sector schools in the Crumlin area.
