Couple escape injury in Londonderry fire
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a house fire in County Londonderry yesterday evening.
Fire crews were called to the scene of the blaze in Jasmine Court in the Gobnascale area of Derry, shortly before 8pm.
A man and woman who were in the house at the time managed to escape without serious injury, however the man sustained injuries to his arm during the incident.
It is understood that the property had not been fitted with a smoke alarm.

Elderly Couple Escape Injury After House Fire In Co Antrim
An elderly couple have escaped injury following a house fire in Co Antrim. The blaze occurred at a property on the Maghereagh Road at around 10am on Monday, 22 August. Two fire appliances from Antrim station and Ballymena station attended the scene. The man was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation. Extensive damage was caused to the property.

Two people have escaped injury following a blaze at a house in Co Armagh at the weekend. A man in his 40s escaped injury following the fire in his home at Ashlea Gardens, Markethill, in the early hours of Saturday morning. He escaped through a window after he was wakened by smoke around 4am.

Family escape serious injury in house fire
A family in west Belfast have escaped almost certain death after their house was destroyed in an oil tank fire. The Fire Brigade believe the blaze, which erupted at Cresslough Court in the Lenadoon area, may have been started deliberately.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
